CAN MAN EVER BE PERFECT?
I am writing on one issue that has probably crossed your mind at one point or the other. It has to do with perfection; “Can a man’s character- his consistent way of behaving- be ever perfect?”


You may have thought, “I have my shortcomings” and the more I try to be “error-free” the more disappointed I get. If this is your thought pattern, know that you are not alone in this. Paul, the renowned New Testament lawyer puts the point beautifully when he remarks that “We are no better than pots of earthen wares to contain this treasure.” Clearly, we are pots; In fact, mere earthen ware pots; fragile and weak, very easily broken. And this pot of ours takes a leaking every now and then.







However, as odd as this may sound, we should not get complacent with this reality. We should be contented with who God has made us to be; never complacent. There is a distinction between the two and I hope to explain in subsequent posts.
We must not get complacent with our imperfect or weak nature. After all, If God knew that man had no capacity for perfection, why did he command us to be perfect even as He is perfect? It therefore means that we can actually be perfect even in our state of fragility or weakness.

Yes, perfection is very possible.
We can actually be perfect if we understand our make-up; If we understand that we are not physical beings having a spiritual experience; but that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. This simply means that the core of man is his spirit and if man is to attain perfection; he must of necessity, go deep within his spirit; for inner strength and guidance.

 THE EAGLE'S NEST The eagles nest is a sight to behold; It weighs more than two tonnes and in fact, it can support two grown men. You do not find this kind of nest anywhere else. It is usually found in the most remote and unattainable spot the bird can find and then it will be perched very high in the mountains or on some sheer cliff or a very high tree. Due to the massive size of this nest and the fact that each and every stick and materials like timber from construction sites, discarded clothing, paper, fresh stick, grass and leaves  to prevent the nest from getting dirty  has to be carried to this remote building by the eagle, you will easily agree that the nest building will be a huge task for the eagle. The eagle, however, is not intimidated or overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of this task. The experiment is this: Try taking a container and put in it, carefully selected big stones. Make sure that the stones are big and put them at the bottom of the container. Now place on top of the container stones of smaller sizes. By now you would have a container with small stones on top and big stones underneath. The next thing is that you shake the container. What would you find? You would find that the smaller stones wuld find their way to the bottom while bigger stones will find their way to the top.
