CAN MAN EVER BE PERFECT? (PART TWO)  In the last post, I concluded that even though man is weak, God’s intention is that man should be perfect. When man looks at his inward man, not his physical being (the earthen pot subject to fragility); then he will find that perfection is actually his maker’s intention for him. It is a gratia gratis data (gift freely given to him by God.)  So I do not sound esoteric or vague, I will recommend that you spend a good chunk of your daily time developing your spirit man- Activities like prayer and studying the bible will definitely help and provide you that inner compass or guidance. When God created the fishes, he had to speak to the seas. He spoke to the fishes to bring out creeping creatures. It follows that no fish can be ever perfect when taken outside its natural habitat (water.) For instance, when you put a fish on land, you know that it can be deformed because that is against its make-up. Again, when God cre...

CAN MAN EVER BE PERFECT? I am writing on one issue that has probably crossed your mind at one point or the other. It has to do with perfection; “Can a man’s character- his consistent way of behaving- be ever perfect?” You may have thought, “I have my shortcomings” and the more I try to be “error-free” the more disappointed I get. If this is your thought pattern, know that you are not alone in this. Paul, the renowned New Testament lawyer puts the point beautifully when he remarks that “We are no better than pots of earthen wares to contain this treasure.” Clearly, we are pots; In fact, mere earthen ware pots; fragile and weak, very easily broken. And this pot of ours takes a leaking every now and then. However, as odd as this may sound, we should not get complacent with this reality. We should be contented with who God has made us to be; never complacent. There is a distinction between the two and I hope to explain in subsequent posts. We must not get complacent with o...

ON SILENCE AND SACRIFICE (Part 2) Studying the biographies of the movers and shakers of this world- living and dead- i see that most of them find one way or the other to engage in solitary activities for a considerable number of hours daily. Some do this through prayer, thinking, reading, meditation, visualization, affirmations and so on. It could be in the early hours of the morning or evening or late at night. But for many of us, reverse is the case, we do not even want to nurture our friendships with our selves so we tend to avoid those alone moments. Some of us resort to chatting with friends, others through loud music when we are alone. Now, do not get me wrong; these are not bad in themselves; I’m only saying that there is more to be explored. Just turn off the television and the phones and travel deep down within you for that is where your great treasure lies. Even Jesus Christ admitted that the "kingdom" is within you not outside of you.

ON SILENCE AND SACRIFICE When a man lives among excessive noise, he may become a nuisance. The seeds of greatness are birthed through the pangs of solitude. When you separate yourself from the crowd, then you can wear the crown. It is in silence that we get to discover who we truly are. It is just like the onion. The outer layer is not all there is to it. There are also inner layers deep within. Could it be that your daily schedule or even your job is preventing you from assessing deeper aspects of yourself-skills, gifts and personality? We must occasionally find time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to find those treasures that lie deep down within us. The seeds of potentials best grow in the soil of separation. It is then that you can have time for self-reflection, self-evaluation and renewal all of which are very vital keys to health, happiness and success.

THROWING THE IDEA OF "HARD WORK" AWAY So you may be looking at the title of this post and be thinking "Oh, this writer does not know what he is saying." Hardwork is definitely a top requirement for any worthwhile acomplishment." "Long, tiring, strenuous work!" Well, to that view point, I ask, "Is that always true? Is hardwork the answer all the time?" Ohhh, before you doubt me any further, look at Proverbs 22 verse 29. It does not talk about hard work as a requirement for standing before kings. It talks about diligence, not hard work.Could there be a difference between the two? Oh yes!  A whole world of difference. Diligence is a learnable skill that combines creative persistence, a smart working effort rightly planned and rightly performed in a timely, efficient and effective manner to attain a result that is pure and of the highest quality of excellence. When you are truly diligent, you control the situation rather than hav...

WHAT ARE YOUR REFERENCES Each time I see the work of a researcher, I observe that at the end of the work is a section dedicated to bibliography or what we would call references. Every good research work (which will be a reference point for upcoming researchers must have quality references.) These references are the materials consulted in the course of the research, books, articles, maps, charts, graphs etal. The mind works in a similar way. If you want to become a reference point, you must watch your references. What materials do you consciously or unconsciously put into your mind? What movies do you watch, what audios do you listen to, what novels or books do you allow into the garden of your mind. Do you allow weeds into the garden of your mind or do you plantfruit bearing trees. Who are your friends? What company do you keep? Remember, the company you keep determines what accompanies you. If you want to become a reference point, you must choose good references. Chew on th...

ANY CURE TO A LEAN PURSE? (PART ONE) Musa needed to seize a very timely opportunity, he dipped his hands into the recesses of his pockets and Ooopppsss...No money. that six letter word. Money. The opportunity was also gone. So what could be the reason? Two weeks ago, Musa had collected his monthly salary and went on a spending spree. To the club house,  buying the most expensive of wines, he stuffed his wardrobe with the most expensive of clothes and now, he was looking forward to another pay day where he will be able to off set the debts already accruing. Musa paid everyone, he paid the club house, he paid the boutique and all others but he never paid himself. He forgot to pay himself first even though he gratified his desires- which in any case will never cease. Desires are like weeds in the field of the mind. If nurtured, they will grow non-stop. Even the wealthy cannot gratify every of their so called desires. They have limits to their time. Limits to their strength. Li...
