THE LITTLE THING THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE

*THE LITTLE THING THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE* Habits are those little things that make a big difference. Most of our daily activities are actually on auto-pilot mode. Scientists have actually confirmed that seventy percent (70%) of human activities are actually carried out based on auto-pilot mode. Then implication is that most of your activities are carried out without second thought. They are carried out at the flip of a switch and without much thought! This therefore shows just like positive habits can be carried out without much thought and they build your life. The opposite is also true; negative habits can be carried out quickly and they impede growth and progress. The implication of this is that to change your life, you have to begin by changing your attitude.
Let me state this; Bad habits are easy to develop but difficult to live with. On the other hand, good habits are difficult to develop but easy to live with. That's so important and needs to be restated. "Bad habits are easy to develop but difficult to live with. On the other hand, good habits are difficult to develop but easy to live with." There are many examples of this statement. Let me give you one: When someone criticizes or insults you, it is hard to hold your tongue and overlook the offence but it is easy and more enjoyable to live with peace instead of regretting the wrong things you should have said. On the other hand, it is easier to let out an outburst but difficult to live with the anguish of wrong words after they may have been spoken. You can apply this principle that bad habits are easy to develop but difficult to live with and that good habits are difficult to develop but easy to live with to various other aspects of your life. Yes, it's easy to tell me "Emma, that's just who I am, that's how I have always done it and that's how I have always been." But with respect, that's not who you are. That's who you are allowing yourself to be. There is a difference between who you are and who you are allowing yourself to be. So how do you make the switch from bad to good habits? Here is the deal. Habits cannot be changed without first changing the thoughts that fuel them. By changing your thoughts, you quit feeding the bad habits; you starve your bad habits into submission and you start nourishing and feeding your good habits. Don't forget the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson thus: "Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.”
