TIME MANAGEMENT IS LIFE MANAGEMENT By ISHOLA Emmanuel “So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” Psalms of David The time which you have been given is finite. Time is not going to endure forever hence you must value it. Time is the measure of life, it is for this reason that we ask people, “How old are you?” Life therefore is measured in time. As the famous Benjamin Franklin said, “Does thou love life? Then do not squander time for it is the stuff that life is made of” Benjamin Franklin was also famous for his statement that “One today is worth two tomorrows” How can you therefore make the best use of your time? Arguably the best use of your time is asking yourself: “What is the most valuable use of my time right now?” There is always an answer to this question every minute and every hour. Answering this question and answering it is the key to your maximum productivity, high performance and great success. You have to be priority driven.  To

GOAL SETTING AND GOAL GETTING; ANY NEXUS? (CONTINUED) Of course, the money, cars, houses, boats, attractive spouses and powers are all good to enjoy but the ultimate goal goes beyond these material possessions to being a “master” at life. You become a master on a step-by-step basis. To achieve your goals, you would need to become a bigger person, with new skills, attitudes and capabilities. It is this stretching that guarantees mastery and it is in this stretching that the joy of goal setting lies. To achieve your goals, you will have to stretch yourself and in doing so, you would be stretched forever. Jack Canfield in his book, The Success Principles, (page 56) tells the story of a fire out break which occurred through the scenic hills above Oakland and Berkely, Carlifonia on October 20, 1991. This fire ignited one building every 11 seconds for over ten hours, completely destroying 2, 800 homes and apartments. An author owned everything he owned including an entire library, files

GOAL SETTING AND GOAL GETTING; ANY NEXUS? (PART THREE) CASE STUDY : BRIAN TRACY At 18, Brian Tracy, a high school dropout was a labourer, switching between different jobs like car-washing, door-to-door (commission) sales, house cleaning, working on farms, construction sites, sawmills and so forth. According to him, “I would often work all day long to make a single sale so I could pay for my rooming house and have a place to sleep that night.” The turning point however for Brian Tracy is described thus in page 6,  “I took a piece of paper and wrote down an outrageous goal for myself. It was to earn 1, 000 dollars per month  in door- to- door and office –to- office selling. Thirty days later, my entire life changed. During that time, I discovered a technique for closing sales that tripled my income from the very first day. Meanwhile the owner of my company sold out to an entrepreneur who had just moved into town. Exactly thirty days after I had written down my goals, the new o

GOAL SETTING GOAL SETTING AND GOAL GETTING (PART TWO) Hello and welcome to today's continuation of the series on the topic of goals. As a brief recap, in the last post we mentioned that some of the advantages of goal setting are that goals stretch you, simply your decision making process and provides you with a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. “Desire accomplished is sweet to the soul” ---- Proverbs of Solomon. Other advantages include: 5. Goal setting frees you from crisis management. You cease spending all of your time trying to resolve this crisis or the other, instead you solve problems before they arise. You shift from being reactive to being procative. You shift from fire-fighting to fire-prevention. Observe people who are committed to setting goals and thinking on paper, they are one of the calmest breed of people you will ever find. They seem to be cool, calm and collected; to have everything under control.. That is exactly what happens to you whe

GOAL-SETTING SERIES GOAL-SETTING AND GOAL-SETTING; ANY NEXUS Scientists have discovered that the brain is a goal seeking organism; whatever goal you give to your sub-conscious mind, it will work day and night to achieve. Goal setting refers to the art of setting specific and measurable , achievable, realistic and time-bound objective. This means that your goals must be smart and you should act on them with the certainty that you will achieve them. ADVANTAGES OF GOALS AND GOAL SETTING 1. Goals stretch you. The ultimate goal in life is not limited to material benefits like cars, houses and the likes even though they are useful. The ultimate goal is to become a "master" at life. Being a master at life is not a destination but a journey that spans throughout life. That journey will require you to learn new skills, expand your vision of possibilities, build new relationships and overcome your fears, considerations and roadblocks. As Jim Rohn, a success coach and philosop
